The Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to children who meet one or more of the following criteria:
* looked after by the local authority
* have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last 6 years
* children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces
Its purpose is to narrow the attainment gap between students from low income families and their peers. The DfE states, ‘It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium allocated is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.’
Pupil Premium funding at the Global Academy will be used to support individual students in furthering their learning and progress through supporting with individual learning needs, and with access to educational visits, technology and other learning resources.
