Welcome to Global Academy

Based at The Old Vinyl Factory on the site of EMI’s old vinyl record business, Global Academy features industry standard recording and filming studio spaces, theatres, and a four-story atrium. The building has been designed completely from scratch for young people wanting a high-quality education with a media focus.

Radio Studios

Here at Global Academy, we have eight radio studios that are fully equipped with the latest play-out and broadcast software.

Students use the studios to produce their own radio shows and podcasts; both in their media lessons and as part of extracurricular activities such as the award winning Youths Choice radio station and podcast series, School Days.

It’s not just our students that have used our industry standard software – our studios have also been used to broadcast across the UK on Capital, Heart and LBC, as well as providing voiceover facilities for commercial clients and advertisers.

TV Studios

Home to three TV studios and accompanying control rooms – it’s lights, camera and action at Global Academy! The spaces are used in lessons to create visual productions including advert production, music videos, pieces to cameras and showreels. Students also work alongside industry pros to develop content with companies like Premier League Productions, London Live (part of the Evening Standard group) and Global’s youth brand PopBuzz.

The studios have also been used extensively by the industry providing the base for pre recorded content in Strictly Come Dancing’s, AJ Pritchard UK Dance tour, primetime Channel 4 television and worldwide international coverage of the Royal Families visit to the Academy.

Music Production Studios

We have two state-of-the-art recording facilities to use as well as a music tech classroom equipped with 25 individual Apple Mac workstations featuring Pro Tools.

Music Technology use the spaces to develop digital productions as well as band recordings, solo track recordings and DJ sessions.

Edit Suites

Students are able to book out individual media suites to carry out media projects and enhance their post production skills. The suites contain the latest Apple Mac technology and are fully soundproof to provide industry like working environments.

Each Mac gives students to access the Adobe Creative Cloud including Premiere Pro and After Effects which is the most cutting edge technology for media production.

Digital Content Hub

The digital content hub is one of our most impressive learning spaces featuring computers equipped with the Adobe Creative Cloud which allows students to learn and develop their skills on Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects etc. As well as using software students are able to bring their digital content ideas to life by using state of the art large format printers and 3D model printers.

Students can also use DLSR cameras and lighting soft boxes to produce stop animation projects. It’s not just 3D, you can also bring your 2D visions to life within our two specialist art and design studios.

Main Hall and Lecture Theatre
