What is the application process for Year 9 Students wanting to join?

What is the application process for Year 11 Students wanting to join the Sixth Form?
Expressions of interest and applications should be made directly to Global Academy by clicking here. Places will be confirmed on receipt of GCSE results.

Are there any fees?
This is a State school funded by the Department for Education so there are no fees.

What are the Entry Requirements to join Year 12?
Students must demonstrate a strong interest in the Broadcast and Digital Media Industry and show some examples of their work. You will attend a meeting to discuss you options so that we can make sure that the are appropriate for your needs. Students will also need to have achieved 5 GCSEs at 4-9. Internal students will be expected to achieve a merit in their Level 2 course to enter the Sixth Form.

Are any students given Priority Entrance to Global Academy?
Yes. Children with statements of SEN or an EHCP, children in care and pupil premium students are all given priority. Pupil Premium students are defined as those who have a parent who is part of the Armed Forces, Children in our Care (CIOC) or any student who has been on free school meals at any time in the past 6 years.

Is there a Uniform?
There is a uniform for our Year 10 and Year 11 students consisting of a Global Academy polo and you can find those guidelines by clicking here. For our Year 12 and Year 13 students we expect all students to dress in a manner that is appropriate for the working environment (at an industry standard) β this includes no extremely ripped jeans, midriff showing, or exposed cleavage or thigh. In addition, students are expected to have their Global Academy Zoodie and T-Shirt on them at all times in case theyβre required to wear it, as well as their lanyards and ID cards.

What is the Duration of the School Day?
The school day at Global Academy runs from 8.45am until 3pm. In addition to the core hours, there are subject specific interventions, media enrichment activities and clubs available until 4pm.

If it is a longer school day, when will my child fit in their Homework?
A lot of the work at Global Academy will be project-based meaning less work to do at home after school. We encourage students to stay at the Academy where there is support to complete work so they can rest and socialise at home.

When will the Holidays be?
They will be similar to the holiday timetable of the schools that fall under the London Borough of Hillingdon. You can see all of these by clicking here.

My child has Special Educational Needs. What support will be available?
We have a SEND co-ordinator and specialist staff who are able to support students.

My child loves Media and It sounds like Global Academy would be perfect for them, but would they be narrowing down their options too early by joining in Year 10?
This should not be a worry as the curriculum in Years 10 and 11 is still very broad and students do not fully specialise until Year 12.
