Creating Extra Learning Opportunities
If your child is eligible for free school meals, they may also be entitled to a sum of money paid to their school to boost their learning.
Three Global Academy Pupil Premium students were forwarded for an 18 month mentoring programme with the BBC. All three students from Global have been selected out of a rigorous application process from hundreds of students across the UK.
We were so impressed by their engagement and enthusiasm. We noted that students from your school did so well that all three of them have got a place on the Get into Media Programme! We had very few spaces so this is impressive
Get in to Media Programme
The Get In To Media Programme will give them continued access to connect, face to face mentoring, apprenticeship fast track and guaranteed work experience at the BBC. Global Academy will use PPG grant to support these students to enable them participate in the programme.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to children who meet one or more of the following criteria:
– looked after by the local authority
– have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last 6 years
– children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces
Its purpose is to narrow the attainment gap between students from low income families and their peers. The DfE states, ‘It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium allocated is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.’
Pupil Premium funding at Global Academy will be used to support individual students in furthering their learning and progress through supporting with individual learning needs, and with access to educational visits, technology and other learning resources.
