Last week’s G-Talk guest was Resource Productions, Amanda Dorsett.  Amanda started as a workshop and Admin Assistant, moved to project coordinator, and is now the Head of  Production, so she is a great example of how working your way up within a company and role type really pays off.  Amanda has produced corporate videos for Global and short films for the likes of Channel 4 and BBC.

Students discussed what Graphic Design is, the different types of effective campaigns, and an explanation of how to fund films, as well as different types of logo trends. This included things such as the evolution of simplifying logos, minimalism, and the creation of 3D Logos. This helped to visually connect the importance of logos through traditional art forms and bring it to life through media and digital art which is what our Digital Design Students study in year 12. We also looked at different training programs available to students such as D&AD (Design and Art Direction) and how to use Pinterest, Creative Blow, and Behance effectively to grow skillsets, networking connections, and freelance opportunities.

Students were able to discuss these topics with Amanda after the G-Talk and express their interest in industry placements, discuss marketing tools in Digital Design and ask any questions that they had.
