Charlotte Becomes Runner up in Sky and Adobe Challenge

Global Academy student, Charlotte Brabin in Year 12 has secured a runner up place against hundreds of other schools in a unique competition hosted by Adobe and Sky. The project called ‘The Edit’ aimed to inspire young people to become digital storytellers and help develop their creative and soft skills to better prepare them for the future.

Charlotte was tasked with producing a 90 second video news report raising awareness of climate change issues in their local community. This was done with the help of access to exclusive Sky professional footage and linked directly into Sky’s #GoZero initiative to achieve Net Carbon Zero by 2030 and Adobe’s sustainability policy.

The project aimed to increase awareness of the issues facing our climate and empower young people to build the skills and confidence to amplify their voices to make a change.

On securing the finalist win – Charlotte said:

From take part in this experience I learnt that the first draft will never be your best so doing it a couple of times will not only make sure the video is perfect  – but will also help to build your skills and confidence.  My favourite part of this experience was being able to learn about the topic, climate change, build my presenting confidence and build my skills and knowledge of the Adobe software and camera equipment. This experience has helped me to prepare for the industry as it has helped me to build my software and camera skills.

Charlotte’s video entry secured her a second-place win in her age group which means she’ll get access into Sky Studios when they open up later this year
