Assistant Sound Designer at Heart

Andrew Bottcher landed the full time role of Assistant Sound Designer at Heart after his apprenticeship with Global which he secured after graduating from Global Academy. His job includes creating radio imaging and promos for Heart 70s/80s/90s and Dance.

The Launch of Heart 90s

Andrew assisted the launch of Heart 70s/80s/90s and Dance which has been his favourite project to work on to date.

Andrew said “I loved working on these because it provided a new sound which we could experiment with and create new ideas to make the stations sound completely different to the rest.”

How Did Global Academy Help Andrew?

Whilst at the Academy, Andrew undertook many work experience opportunities. Most notably working with the with the Heart Team for a week over summer.

Andrew explained “In that week I learnt so much about how the Network functioned, how to create radio imaging and promos. Plus, it gave me an opportunity to show off my skills to my future line manager!”

The best advice I can give is to get involved with as much as possible. The amount of content you can create, whether in audio or visual, within the Global Academy is endless. If you end up with a work experience placement or on the mentor scheme, an active portfolio will really show your development and skills!
