We’re delighted to have been shortlisted in the TES Schools Awards 2021 in the hotly contested Creative School of the Year category.
The Tes Schools Awards are the coined as the “Oscars” of the education sector and celebrate the achievements of staff and schools across the UK. The Tes Schools Awards are a fantastic way to join together in these isolating times, to celebrate staff members, teams and school’s achievements with colleagues and the wider education community, boost morale and get national recognition for hard work and successes.
Being shortlisted in this category recognised the hard work of all our colleagues, students and governors as well as the wider community such as parents, industry and university partners and beyond. Creativity sits at the lifeblood of what we do at Global Academy – from our own in-house radio and content production projects, to our teaching and learning and even the way we bring our pastoral and careers programme for life. As a 14-19 University Technical College, we are able to offer a unique industry and creative curriculum for students – such as ‘real life’ projects, industry placements, specialist expertise, mentoring and apprenticeship opportunities. This has also means other Creative and Media companies want to work with our Academy and students, in turn leading to more opportunities for the school.
Our unique partnership with the University of Arts London (UAL), ranked number two in the world for Art and Design education – brings with it a wealth of opportunities for students looking for a career in the creative industries. Our work helps kickstart the careers of young people from all over London within the creative media industry – our graduates land top roles at companies like Global, BBC, TikTok, Facebook, Google plus places on prestigious creative courses in Higher Education as well as start up their own creative enterprises and businesses.
Global Academy is fast becoming the creative campus and destination of choice for young people who’re looking for a unique education offering to kick start their career in the creative media industry.
We’re delighted with this nomination – there is plenty to celebrate! This year, Global Academy – like all schools across the UK – have gone above and beyond to help their students access the very best in creative teaching and learning during testing times.
