Working at the BBC

My first job after leaving Global Academy will be as a Digital Marketer Apprentice at the BBC and I am very excited to get a real sense of what marketing is like in a big corporation. I’m moving to Manchester for the experience and can’t wait!

Why did you choose Global Academy?

For me media has always been a passion from a young age! When finding out about the Global Academy, and learning what they do; which is teaching practical skills to aspiring students – I knew that this was place that I wanted to join!

How did Global Academy help prepare you for your new role?

The Academy handed me the tools that I need to succeed in marketing. For example they informed me what companies look for and how to present yourselves within your portfolio and CV’s. In addition to this, the Academy really pushed me to do extra projects outside of school. This not only looks impressive on your CV but also enables you to improve on my skill set.

What advice would you give to students following in your footsteps?

Always go the extra mile. No matter what project you are working on, even if its a subject that you’re not keen on. People will note this behaviour, thus giving you a good reputation. I would also recommend to always be working on a side project. I say this because it adds depth into what you do and shows that you aren’t just doing the bare minimum at school, but that you are passionate about the career you want to get into.
