ITV prepares our students for careers in TV

Students spent the morning with ITV to get under the skin of the wide range of routes into the broadcaster, how to stand out and the importance of diversity and inclusion for the company.

A group of Year 12 and Year 13 students spent the morning with various senior figures from the recruitment team at ITV to get a unique opportunity to kickstart their media careers.

The session was hosted by Jason Soper-Dyer – Senior Resourcing Manager at ITV who focuses on Early Careers. Jason was joined by his team to really give our students a great understanding in what it’s like to work for the broadcaster.

Daisy Nicholls who is currently an ITV apprentice took Globallers through a really hoenst sharing of her recent application process  to join the team and gave some top tips for those looking to apply for an ITV apprenticeship.

It’s important to be yourself and be honest and research is important. There’s a range of roles available and lots of pro’s to doing an apprenticeship

Deb Aspinall, Resourcing Manager at ITV guided the group through some useful elements of the recruitment process from her experience. She spoke to our students about how to stand out with their CV and Cover Letter and how to deal with rejection. She also shared some insights to Interview tips and styles at ITV as well as how to prepare and showcased the importance of checking if you don’t know the answer first time!

There was also adiversity and inclusion within the Organisation.

The rest of the team talked about the great work which the broadcaster is doing to help drive diversity and inclusion into the business with their employee networks before sharing why they love working for ITV (such as seeing names they recognise on the credits of live island)!

We finished wiht a live Q&A session that provided details around apprenticeships and opportunities at ITV, how to go about standing out, as well as finished the teams’ ultimate top tips for our students.

A massive thank you to ITV Early Careers and Working Options for organising the session.
