Music Video Storyboarding with LMA- Global Academy Edition

Lma is a university specialising in Music and Performing Arts. With institutions based in Liverpool and London, they offer courses in Acting, Screen Acting, Digital Film, and TV Production, Digital Games art, and more. LMA Visited Global Academy thinking about different career pathways and how Digital Film and Media is used in Music Videos. LMA Shares their London Institution with industry experts such as BT Sports, Wayne McGregor, and Matches Fashion.

Emma and Jenni from LMA, worked with our students to help them think about different forms of Media, including storyboarding. Emma split the class into two groups where they were given the same 12 Pictures of a music video and were asked to work together to create a storyboard on how they think the final edit turned out. This included Opening credits, fillers, and closing credits. Both teams presented their storyboard to see how their ideas differed from each other. The groups were then shown the final edit of the Music Video and were asked to compare their storyboard with the final product. This activity was to show how many ideas can come from one person and that as creative’s each of our thoughts are equally important.

The practicality of this workshop certainly got our student’s minds thinking and helped them to see how a music video is formed. Global Academy students are currently working on their final major projects, so this was excellent for our Visual students to learn more about the editing process within the Media industry. A huge thank you to Emma and Jenni for visiting us and presenting such an insightful workshop. To learn more about the courses please click here
