Students Work with Big Brands on Campaigns

Students spent the Spring Term getting a taste of life in the creative industry by working on our annual Branded Content project with Global’s commercial team as well as the media, creative and digital agencies of some of the world’s biggest brands –  KFC, Samsung, Reebok, Co-Op, GiffGaff and HSBC.

Working with Top Clients

Students spent the Spring Term getting a taste of life in the creative industry by working on our annual Branded Content project with Global’s commercial team as well as the media, creative and digital agencies of some of the world’s biggest brands –  KFC, Samsung, Reebok, Co-Op, GiffGaff and HSBC.

Students were tasked to respond to a marketing brief set by the clients and develop their own digital branded content as well as an industry standard pitch and brief. Students got the chance to pitch their ideas directly to senior figures from the client, their media buying agency and Global’s commercial team after working on their production over a three-week sprint process.

Students worked on real life briefs and challenges set by the clients:

  • Giffgaff challenged our students to come up with a concept which made giffgaff famous for flexibility and a company to commit too.
  • HSBC wanted an idea which focused on 16-25s to become educated in how to manage their finance.
  • KFC’s task was to drive more awareness of their delivery offering
  • Co-op wanted stand out media idea which focused on community, healthy living and a better world.
  • Samsung wanted Global Academy students to create creative content which drove desire for the new S21 Galaxy 5G – bringing to life it’s camera function
  • Reebok invited students to write a legacy by bringing to life a branded content idea that brough Reeboks legacy ambition to life.

Jasnam Nagra, Year 12 who worked with Samsung on the launch of the new S21 Galaxy 5G said:

“This industry project prepared me as I now know that you have to work to a deadline and some deadlines are shorter than you think they would be.”

Chloe Sibley, Year 12 who worked with Co-op commented:

“I learnt how to use feedback effectively to improve my work. I also learnt that this is what it would be like in the actual industry just with a shorter time limit. It’s not just being creative – there’s a lot of reason into the target audience. I got to make digital adverts which was very hands on and fun especially where digital is one of my stronger subjects. This project gave me a real insight into what a job in the media industry is like.

Harry Clapman worked on the KFC brief and added:

“In this project – I learnt a lot about team work and working under pressure. Creating a marketing idea for the KFC delivery app was something I never thought I’d have to do. My favourite part of the experience was brainstorming and working hard to complete the project with my friends and the whole project has shown me how to work better under stressful environments.
