Students go BACKSTAGE at Capitals Summertime Ball

We took 160 Students backstage to Capitals Summertime ball just days before the event

On Friday 10th June 2022, Future Global Academy students went backstage at the UK’S biggest Music Event. Our friends at Global allowed us to access all areas pass to show students what really happens behind the scenes and showed them the types of job roles they could be going into after leaving the academy.

Students arrived at Wembley Stadium and were taken to the Press Lounge, where journalists and commentators gather for football events each week. The group was then split into 4 groups where half did a workshop with the director of specialism JJ and the team. This was a great opportunity for the globallers to meet their future classmates, take part in fun activities and be part of our TikTok team. The remaining students then went on the tour and the groups then swapped.

On the tour, we showed them everything from the stage and the digital media team hubs to Harry Style’s Dressing room. Yes- they got to see all this before the artists themselves! All of the spaces backstage have been built by Global for the summertime ball, so it shows how much preparation and thought to go into creating these events. Students started off in the media sector, seeing the press wall where journalists will be interviewing the artists before the show, they then went backstage to the green rooms, where artists get their makeup touched up before going on stage, leading through to the sound vans where the artist’s performance is recorded, mixed by Global and sent to their Record Labels and Management for approval to use live on air. Students also viewed the large Digital media room which was full of photographers, videographers, marketers, and more. We then saw the events offices, onsite spas, and of course the dressing rooms of each artist! This really was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the aim was to show students different job roles within the industry that they may want to explore during their time here at Global Academy and beyond.

Once the tours had finished the students had the chance to sit with members of the Global team for a Q&A with Brand Experience Director, Mickelle Roberts, and ex-Global Academy student Tahlia Tyger Zeckler, Brand Experience Executive. This was a great opportunity for the students to learn how the events are built, the preparation, and what Global looks for when recruiting individuals.

Future Student Harrison Gunn said, ” it was amazing, we got to see a lot more than I was expecting!”

We want to thank our friends at Global for this amazing opportunity. We really are a school like no other!
