The Class of 2021 land top Jobs and Uni Places in the Creative Industry

Students successfully secure their next steps in the media industry.

After an eventful academic year like no other – Year 13 students are celebrating today (Tuesday 10th August) as they leave Global Academy ready to kickstart their careers in the creative industry by landing places at a wide range of both jobs and apprenticeships in the sector as well as taking their next step in education at some of the UK’s top Higher Education creative establishments and industry training programmes.

100% of students achieved the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology qualification with over 70% securing a Merit or Distinction Grade. Over a third of students achieved the top Distinction Grade – equivalent to 3 A*’s at A Level.

After a highly contested internal selection process – an impressive eight students will be starting Apprenticeship roles in the Radio Programming, Video, Marketing and Outdoor Sales teams at Global working directly with their digital, content and commercial teams on brands like Capital, Heart and Radio X. Other students leave the Academy straight into full-time jobs and apprenticeships in creative, advertising, digital marketing, video content production and business management roles at companies including Dentsu International, Pinewood Studios, Goal.com, News UK, Ashville, Safo Music Group, Grant Thornton and Costain.

While many students head into employment or apprenticeships – some of the cohort will continue their training in Higher Education. Six students will be continuing their creative education at the school’s strategic university partner – the University of the Arts London. University of the Arts London (UAL) is a world-leading university for art and design (ranked second in the world for Art and Design in the 2021 QS World University Rankings®) and the founding educational partner of Global Academy. Global Academy students will join UAL to study a range of courses including Fine Art, Graphic & Media Design and Advertising. Global Academy students have also secured places on prestigious creative courses including Fine Art, Media Production, Screenwriting, Film, Digital Media, Marketing and Business across the UK including Goldsmiths, Kingston, Coventry,  Ravensbourne, Royal Holloway and the University of Brighton.

Additionally – this year – a handful of students will be joining a new Level 4 Creative Enterprise one year course being run at Global Academy as well as the highly competitive one-year film traineeship programme in conjunction with ScreenSkills and the National Film and TV School (held at partner UTC school – Elstree Screen Academy).

“This year, more than ever – I am really proud of the wide range of positive creative destinations that our students head off to after Global Academy. This is our third cohort graduating from year 13 and what Global was set up to do has again been successful in preparing students for direct entry into the creative industry opportunities and also many of our student have gained prestigious places at university studying subject from design, art, film/tv , marketing and advertising to business courses.

Some students are setting up their own business – Global students do it all. The 100% pass rate and over a third of our cohort achieving top grades is a real testament to the hard work the students and staff have done in such testing times over the past Academic year. We wish the best of luck to all our graduates today as they go on kickstart their careers in the creative media industry”
