Y13 Student lands dream job in Advertising at Dentsu

Global Academy student, Charlie Larrier – lands a job with Dentsu after work experience day.

Charlie joined Global Academy in Year 10 back in 2018 looking to develop a career in the creative industry. After meeting Balpreet Magnat, Managing Partner of dentsuMB – the creative arm of the Dentsu Network –  Year 13 student, Charlie Larrier, has been offered a position as a Creative Client Coordinator when she leaves Global Academy this coming summer.

After visiting Dentsu for a day work placement back in Year 12, organised by Global Academy, Charlie was impressed to see a female-dominated workplace, that cares about its clients as well as its employees.

Dentsu is one of the UK’s largest advertising agency networks that create solutions and services to help the business grow through social campaigns. Dentsu’s client list includes the likes of Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, and Adidas. dentsumcgarrybowen is a global creative agency delivering idea-led brand transformation at scale where Charlie will be working.

During Charlie’s work placement, she had the opportunity to meet like-minded employees, worked with clients, and was able to express her interest in the Creative Client Coordinator role, whilst networking with Balpreet and her team. Charlie added Balpreet on Linkedin and a week later was offered the position, without even having to apply for it! This just goes to show, you never know who you will meet during work experience – and how important to remain professional and friendly at all times. Charlie’s role will include being across client relations, creating and facilitating briefs, and building case studies for Dentsu.

We sat down with Charlie to discuss her success. Charlie expressed that

“Coming to Global Academy helped to validate my career path. The opportunities I have been given at Global Academy helped give me the confidence to put myself out there and take every opportunity presented to me.”

Charlie had some great advice for fellow Globallers and other young people and wanted to express how important it is to take every opportunity because you don’t know where it will take you. Use LinkedIn and do your research”.

We are wishing Charlie all the success and we know she will do amazingly well when she starts her new role after her FMP. Congratulations!

This is the third Global Academy student who has been employed by Dentsu – and brings together the great work we do with the organisation as one of our key partners including providing careers workshops, live briefs for students and work experience opportunities. Uisce Ahmed in Year 11 recently got into the final of an advertising competition organised by Dentsu for their clients Co-op and Mondelaz – find out more here
