Safeguarding and Support

Welcome to the Global Academy’s page on mental health support and safeguarding with a wide range of resources, support and advice.

As a Global Academy, it is important for us to prioritise the wellbeing and safeguarding of our students. We understand that mental health and safety are vital for students to be able to learn and succeed in their academic pursuits. That’s why we have put in place a number of resources and supports to ensure that our students have access to the help they need.

This page offers a number of other resources to support our students’ wellbeing. These include access to online support and information, as well as resources for specific issues like bullying and online safety. We believe that by providing our students with the tools and resources they need to take care of their mental health and wellbeing, we can help them to succeed both academically and personally.

Safeguarding is also a top priority for us at Global Academy. We have a number of policies and procedures in place to ensure that our students are protected from harm and are able to learn in a safe and supportive environment. This includes our Safeguarding Policy, which outlines our commitment to safeguarding and the steps we take to protect our students. We also have a Peer on Peer Policy (child-on-child), which outlines our preventative approach to addressing any incidents of abuse. By prioritising both wellbeing and safeguarding, we hope to create a supportive and nurturing environment for all of our students.

In the media and creative industries, safeguarding and wellbeing are crucial for the success and sustainability of both individuals and organisations. These industries can be high-pressure environments, with long hours and demanding schedules, and it is important for individuals to take care of their own mental health and wellbeing in order to thrive in their careers.

Safeguarding is also essential in the media and creative industries, as it helps to create a safe and supportive work environment for all employees. This includes protecting individuals from harm and abuse, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to work in a respectful and inclusive environment.

Overall, safeguarding and wellbeing are key considerations for anyone looking to kickstart a career in the media and creative industries. By taking care of their own mental health and wellbeing, and by working in communities that prioritize these issues – students can set themselves up for success and build long-lasting, fulfilling careers in these exciting and dynamic fields.

Zero Tolerance to Bullying

At Global Academy, we have a zero tolerance to bullying. We believe that no student should have to put up with bullying. Each student has the right to feel, and be, safe while at the academy. This is important for the student’s wellbeing and also because young people who feel safe learn more easily. If students are bullied it is not their fault and they should not feel embarrassed or guilty.

We will treat all incidents of bullying seriously and in a consistent way. We intend to educate bullies so that they stop bullying. We will definitely discipline bullies if we need to in order to stop them from bullying, but in many situations we will be able to stop the bullying without severe punishment. Where appropriate, we will work with students who have been bullied to help them develop their self-esteem and resilience.

There are a number of people students can talk to if they are worried about someone or feel unhappy in any way:

Form tutor/Mentor
Head of Key Stage
Teachers
