Global Academy’s in house radio station and content brand, Youths Choice has secured a nomination in the prestigious New York Festivals® Radio Awards as ‘Best Student Radio Station’ and hopes to bring home gold for the UK this Summer against a suite of international broadcasters.
The award celebrates the immense amount of work that students and staff involved in Youths Choice this year have put in from daily radio shows, interviews with high profile personalities, documentaries, playlist meetings and more. Additionally, the station has started to develop a slate of youth-orientated podcasts including the Boot Room football podcast, The Loop daily news show and School Days – all of which are available on Global Player. The team have also been developing original visual content programming on social platforms including YouTube, TikTok and Instagram including a daily news programme, documentaries and much more.
There are lots of students across the Global Academy in all years that take part in projects for Youths Choice – why not speak to Mark Pendergast if you would like to get involved in the award-nominated project. You could present or produce a show, make unique social first content for socials or help produce some of our amazing visual projects too.
The 2021 New York Festivals® Radio Awards Grand Jury of creative media professionals and content creators from around the globe selected Finalists based on production values, writing, creativity, direction, achievement of purpose, and audience suitability. Entries achieving Finalist status will advance to the next round to determine gold, silver, and bronze trophies.

The Radio Awards receives entries from radio stations, networks, and independent producers from over 30 countries around the globe. The mission of the competition is to honor the achievements of the men and women who make up the global audio storytelling community.
The 2021 NYF Radio Award winners will be announced on October 12th at the annual Storytellers gala taking place at NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters) in Las Vegas.
