Wellbeing Days at Global Academy

Discover more about our wellbeing days at Global Academy 🏓 💪 🏀

A lot of us, as adults, can relate to the “night before PE day” anxiety of being outside in the freezing cold, playing sports we don’t want to, getting detention for “forgetting” PE kit and running cross country in the rain (yes – it ALWAYS rained on cross-country day!). Then sitting in classes for the rest of the day with soggy feet and damp clothes? Not anyone’s idea of fun!

While schools across the country, face these battles on a weekly basis, at Global Academy, we’ve eliminated the issue entirely.

Our Physical Education programme is run as a fun day of activities once every half term that students actually look forward to. We don’t call it PE, we call it Wellbeing Day.

We bring in specialist coaches to run activities like trampolining, boxing and miniature golf. We have choreographers from Strictly Come Dancing and dancers from Britain’s Got Talent to run dance classes (celebs love us!) and have taken students to the local BMX track and leisure centre to play football, use the gym and swim.

Students have a say in what activities we run.

We pride ourselves on the fact that our students are made to feel comfortable within an arena that so many don’t.  Statistics show that lacking physical confidence in our teenage years has a direct impact on our confidence as adults.

I’m sure as parents and carers, removing the weekly “where’s my PE kit?!!” stress has also been received well.

Do keep an eye out on our socials to see just how much fun we have on Wellbeing Days and if you have any questions or suggestions (yes, we welcome those too!), please email our Head of Safeguarding, Wellbeing and Cultural Learning, Preya Dhanecha: preya.dhanecha@globlaacademy.com
