Global Academy recently held an Industry Insights session with Elaine Sprankle from Ghost VFX, giving students a practical chance to learn more about producing graphics for TV and film. The session provided hands-on training in After Effects and Premiere Pro, led by Elaine Sprankle, an experienced VFX artist with a wealth of industry experience working on some of the biggest TV shows and films.

During the workshop, students were given a live industry brief and were able to put their new skills to the test as they worked on a real-world project. This approach gave students valuable and practical experience, helping them to understand the process of producing graphics for TV and film and providing them with the skills they need to succeed in the industry.

According to Andy Winter, Head of KS5 Curriculum at Global Academy, the workshop was a huge success for the students.

“The hands-on approach to learning with After Effects and Premiere Pro alongside a live industry brief in the workshop provided a practical and valuable experience for our students – Elaine was able to provide valuable insights and guidance to the students during the workshop, and we are thrilled with the success of the session.”

One student, Rupin in Year 13, was particularly impressed with the session:

“I really enjoyed the hands-on approach of the workshop,” says Rupin. “I feel like I have a much better understanding of what it takes to produce graphics for TV and film and I will definitely be using what I learned to prepare for a future in VFX and graphics.”

The hands-on approach of the workshop was particularly beneficial for the students, allowing them to learn by doing and giving them a taste of what it is like to work in the industry. It also helped students to understand the importance of attention to detail and the need to be able to work under pressure, which are key skills required in the VFX and graphics industry.
