Global Academy teamed up with IntoFilm and the BFI to reward thirty lucky MAGT (KS5) students who achieved top effort grades last Half Term for an exclusive sneak peek of a new Netflix Original Show.

Lockwood & Co is an upcoming Netflix Original supernatural thriller series based on the young adult novels of the same name by author Jonathan Stroud. The series is produced by Complete Fiction, the same studio behind Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho, and the upcoming Attack the Block sequel.

Students took their seats in the prestigious BFI cinema screen to feast their eyes on an exclusive clip of the series – along with artwork with Author Jonathan Stroud. The highlight of the experience was hearing from Director Joe Cornish in conversation and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Joe Cornish is a comedian, writer, radio and television presenter, and director. He made his feature film directional debut in 2011 with the acclaimed ‘Attack the Block’ and also directed the box office hit ‘A Kid Who Would Be King’. In addition, he has co-written films such as ‘Ant-Man’ and ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’.

Jonathan Stroud is an author whose works include the best selling Bartimaeus Trilogy and in 2020 Netflix announced a TV series adaptation of his series Lockwood & Co which will be released later this year.

This was an amazing opportunity to find out how these media professionals do their job. As an aspiring director – it was great to hear how Joe Cornish directed the series and many other things. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
