A Day Behind the Scenes Exploring ITV Studios

Global Academy’s Year 12 Technical Media and Broadcast students recently embarked on an eye-opening journey into the heart of television production during their visit to ITV studios in White City.

The experience provided them with an in-depth tour of renowned shows such as This Morning, Good Morning Britain, and the Lorraine show, offering a rare glimpse into the meticulous processes that go into creating captivating live television.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to listen in on the production of This Morning in real-time. The students, captivated by the behind-the-scenes action, gained a deeper understanding of the intricate coordination required to make a live show seamless. Conrad Lyndon, one of the students, shared his insights, saying:

“It was really interesting to see how they rehearsed beforehand and what sudden changes they had to deal with while live. It was also interesting to see how they communicated to each other while producing the show.”

The tour extended to the lighting and control rooms, where students immersed themselves in the atmosphere of live television production. Experiencing the behind-the-scenes magic firsthand allowed them to appreciate the challenges and teamwork involved in bringing a show to life.

This immersive visit not only broadened the students’ understanding of technical media but also provided a unique opportunity to witness professionals adapting to unexpected changes in real-time. It offered a glimpse into the fast-paced, dynamic nature of the television industry, leaving a lasting impression on the aspiring media and broadcast professionals.
