Year 10 get industry experience with Global radio professionals.

The doors of opportunity swung wide open as students from Global Academy were welcomed into the heart of the media and entertainment industry during a recent visit to Global HQ. Guided by alumni who once walked the same halls and are now integral parts of the company, the students were treated to an eye-opening experience behind the curtains of a major media conglomerate.

The visit commenced with an enriching tour of the building, where students were immersed in the dynamic atmosphere of Global, witnessing firsthand the intricate processes that bring radio brands like Capital, Heart, Smooth, and LBC to life, reaching millions of eager listeners every day.

Following the captivating tour, the students had the privilege of engaging with three distinguished industry experts, each offering unique perspectives and invaluable advice. Sienna Linton, a content editor for Classic FM, shed light on the nuances of working for a station with a distinct identity. Luke Prior, serving as the senior producer for Capital’s drive-time and Official Big Top 40, shared the challenges and rewards of managing two distinct shows on the same station. Jade Lewis, the music programmer at Capital XTRA, provided a detailed account of her day-to-day responsibilities, giving the students a glimpse into the dynamic world of music programming.
