Global Academy Students Make Some Noise for Charity

Global Academy students’ creative fundraising efforts contributed to raising money in this year’s Make Some Noise day campaign.

The Global Academy community came together in a remarkable display of generosity and enthusiasm for a worthy cause during this year’s Global’s Make Some Noise Day appeal. As part of a global initiative, Global Academy students joined forces with Global’s radio brands and presenters to raise funds for 100 charities in local communities across the UK.

Global’s Make Some Noise helps to fun life changing projects that address the various challenges faced by individuals dealing with mental and physical health issues, debt, homelessness, and hunger. It is a testament to the commitment of Global Academy students to make a positive impact on their communities and the lives of those less fortunate.

At Global Academy, the students organised a diverse range of fundraising activities that brought creativity, fun, and excitement into the effort to support Make Some Noise. The students set up business stalls, including delectable cake stalls, tuck shops filled with snacks, and engaging craft projects. The admirable aspect was that a percentage of the profits from these stalls went directly to the charity.

One of the most entertaining highlights of the fundraising day was the ‘throw the sponge on a teacher’ fundraiser. This light-hearted event saw students enthusiastically throwing wet sponges at their teachers in exchange for a donation, resulting in memorable (and slightly wet!) experience for all involved.

The Make Some Noise day appeal also saw students participating in the #TrollsDanceChallenge, a call to come together for a good cause. Inspired by the upcoming release of “Trolls Band Together” in cinemas, Global Academy students embraced their inner superstars and created dance videos on TikTok. Guided by the talented Pussycat Doll, Ashley Roberts, the students danced their hearts out, contributing to the cause.

The fundraising events culminated in a spectacular fashion with the annual Teacher Lip Sync Battle. This high-production event featured students and teachers collaborating to create unforgettable lip sync routines, accompanied by mesmerizing dance performances. Mickella, Aoife, and Katherine took centere stage, captivating the audience with their incredible performances. Many students played essential roles as backing dancers or managed the technical aspects of the show, making it a grand finale to the fundraising efforts. Congratulations to Aoife for her win! Students were also treated to a mid show stand up comedy set from Year 13 student – Harrison Gunn whilst the judges deliberated their results!

It is worth mentioning that this successful fundraising campaign was orchestrated by Year 13 Media Business students. Their dedication and hard work resulted in raising over £300 for Global’s Make Some Noise. This demonstrates the power of youth to make a significant impact and their dedication to making a difference in the world.

In addition to their creative fundraising efforts, many Global Academy students generously volunteered at Global HQ on appeal day. They worked closely with the Classic FM team, helping to collect donations from listeners over the phone. Their involvement in the call center was an essential part of the broader initiative and showcased their commitment to the cause.

Global Academy students have shown that when they come together with determination and enthusiasm, they can achieve remarkable results. The Make Some Noise day appeal has not only raised substantial funds for vital local charities but has also inspired a sense of unity and community among the students. Their contribution to this noble cause is a testament to the values instilled in them at Global Academy – values of empathy, generosity, and the desire to make a positive impact on the world.
