Our students have raised a fantastic amount for small charities that help disadvantaged people across the UK as part of Global’s annual Make Some Day fundraising day on Friday 8th October.
As part of the fundraising day – we joined Global radio stations and Global employees to raise funds and awareness for small charities in local communities across the UK, including food banks, mental health and domestic abuse helplines, carer support, community projects, and employment programmes.
There was a wide range of events and fundraisers available for everyone in an action packed day organised by our Year 14 group and their production company – Above 14 Productions.
We certainly made the Academy look LOUD as our students were able to DRESS LOUD across the day with some rather special loud and colourful outfits and costumes worn by students and staff! Breaktimes and Lunchtimes on the day were filled with fundraising activity including Bake Sales, American Sweet Shops, the Live B DJ sets and much more. Across the day – a live Twitch stream was broadcasted encouraging donations from players making over £175 alone! The big finale of the day saw the return of Global Academy’s infamous TEACHER LIP SYNC Battle – which saw some of our teachers battle it out to be crowned the Lip Sync Winner in the name of charity! Congratulations to Georgina who picked up the crown this year with her incredible performance featuring the Year 12 backing dancers. Well done to Jayne, Mickella, Aoife and Alice who performed too – it was a real contest to pick a winner!
Congratulations to all our students who got involved to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise. Since Global’s Make Some Noise launched in 2014, the national charity has raised more than £23m million and raised awareness for 380 incredible charities and projects around the UK that struggle to be heard.
