Our students had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take over the main stage at Hard Rock Café London, a stage where many famous artists have stayed and performed. Students went through an audition process with Keaton Kustler, Vibe Manager, at Hard Rock Hotel London who then selected 8 acts to perform at the final event.
Global Academy students have been busy rehearsals for months making sure they were prepared. In November we took the performers on an exclusive tour to the Hard Rock Hotel so they could see the stage they would be performing on, and look at all the memorabilia from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, and Lady Gaga. We also were granted backstage access to the Fender Guitar room where guests can request a particular guitar to be placed in their room prior to their arrival. Our students were able to choose which guitar they would like to use on the day of their performance.
On the day students arrived and were taken down to the green room, where they could practice, have hair and make-up done, and get changed and ready for their performance. This is also where they were presented with their very own Vinyl Plaque designed and created by The Hard Rock Hotel team to give the inspiration to chase their dreams as artists… the first of many to come we hope. The sold-out show was Presented by Year 11’s Fletcher Rodger and year 13’s Katie Lamb who was absolutely phenomenal in keeping the audience entertained and gave great background on the performers so as the audience we got to know them that little bit better. We had performances ranging from Jazz to Rock and some acts even showcased their dancing skills.
When asked what they thought of the show Karen Rodger, Parent of one of the performers said ‘I am blown away by the amount of talent on the stage.’. Director of specialism JJ, said, “It was a really special afternoon to see families come together and join in the fun! There is so much talent at Global.”.
