Earlier this week, Amrit Mann, a Junior Journalist at Sky News, returned to Global Academy, to inspire and educate our Year 12 students about the world of journalism.

Having graduated from Global Academy in 2021, Amrit’s visit held special significance for the students who saw him as a relatable role model. He shared his personal journey, detailing the challenges he faced and the milestones he achieved along the way. Amrit’s passion for journalism was palpable as he spoke about his role at Sky News and the daily responsibilities that come with reporting news to a global audience.

During his engaging talk, Amrit emphasised the importance of pursuing the truth and maintaining ethical standards in journalism. He encouraged students to cultivate a strong work ethic and develop their skills in writing, research, and storytelling. Drawing from his own experiences, he highlighted the impact of technology on the industry and the need to adapt to emerging platforms.

Amrit generously shared valuable advice, stressing the significance of networking, perseverance, and embracing opportunities. The interactive session also allowed students to ask questions and seek guidance on various aspects of journalism.
