Global Academy Wins UK School Media Award

Global Academy’s Youths Choice team have scored the coveted Best Audio Award in this year’s prestigious Shine School Media Awards to recognise the breadth and professionalism of our audio content this year.

The Shine School Media Awards is a national competition that rewards diversity of talent from secondary schools across the UK who work on the writing, editing, design and fund-raising for a school newspaper, magazine, radio station / podcast or website.

The Shine Awards is an endeavour of The Stationers’ Foundation, the charitable arm of The Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, one of the UK’s ancient livery companies.

The winners were announced in a special televised event on London Live and are now invited to the official Shine gala lunch on 27th September at the Guildhall in London which will be attended by Mark Pendergast, Head of Content and two students.

Global Academy picked up the Best Audio award in a hotly contested category which was judged by Peter Day, BBC Broadcaster and Lewis McDonell from content agency, Voodoo.

The judges commented that the Global Academy entry was:

‘very professional, a great listen, broadcastable and the producer should be offered an immediate job in radio’

The entry included work from the year such as our range of podcasts including The Boot Room football podcast produced by Y13 students Luke Hatten, Levi Wayland and Conor Dunmore as well as our daily entertainment shows, new coverage and special events.

Congratulations to all involved – why not give Youths Choice a listen by clicking here and check out The Boot Room and The Loop podcasts too!
