Year 12 & 13 Students attend creative workshops & tour of Ealing Studios

Last week, 30 students swapped their train tickets from Hayes to Hollywood!

Well…..not quite Hollywood (but close enough), Ealing Studios is the oldest studio in the world and “the birthplace of thousands of recorded hours of entertainment and creativity.” The MetFilm School is a stone’s throw away from this iconic facility: the principal campus is situated within the Ealing Studios complex, making it the perfect setting for Global’s sixth formers to learn and explore.

The students engaged in an interactive workshop, getting stuck in with filming a scripted scene using industry standard equipment – a Sony FS7 camera. The trip also provided valuable insight into what working in the industry is like, with the opportunity to ask MetFilm School staff questions and for advice. On the tour, students got to see a range of facilities from the equipment room to the performance space and stage, as well as taking a peek into the first year acting class and cinematography class.

“My favourite part was the workshop where I got to be Assistant Director. It’s so cool that the Academy is near so many different media-related sites. You really get a sense of what your dreams for the future are when you get to go on trips like this”

Ariana Crosdale, Year 13
