Over the course of February Half Term, our students were treated to a week filled with excitement, adventure, and invaluable learning experiences. Nestled in the vibrant city of Santa Monica, they had the chance to live and breathe the iconic LA lifestyle, with each day offering new adventures and discoveries.
From Warner Brothers Studios to Universal Studios and Sony Pictures, our students had exclusive access to some of the biggest players in the media industry. They embarked on backstage studio tours, gaining insights into the creative processes behind their favorite films and television shows. One highlight was a special workshop led by Allen Simpson, a distinguished voice director and composer renowned for his work with The Simpsons. Simpson shared his expertise in storytelling, character development, and music composition, offering our students a unique glimpse into the world of animation and VFX.
A special treat awaited our students at iHeartRadioLA, where they were welcomed with open arms into the bustling world of US radio broadcasting. They enjoyed an exclusive backstage tour and workshop with the talented team, gaining firsthand knowledge of the inner workings of a radio station. Many of our students even had the opportunity to showcase their talents on air by taking part in the range of shows happening in the building at the time broadcasting across California.
Beyond the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, our students also had the chance to soak in the rich culture of Los Angeles. They strolled along the iconic Venice Beach, immersing themselves in the vibrant art scene and eclectic atmosphere. As the city buzzed with excitement, our students gathered on Hollywood Boulevard to witness the legendary Superbowl Game as it happened in Vegas – soaking in the electric atmosphere and cheering on the teams.
The LA adventure proved to be a once in a lifetime experience for our Year 13 students, igniting their passion for content production, art and design, and media business in ways they never imagined. As they delved into the heart of Hollywood – this was a unique experience for our Year 13 students that sparked their creativity, broadened their horizons, and forged lasting memories and friendships.
