Global Academy’s Green Skills Journey: Partnering with Dentsu & Generation C to Shape a Sustainable Media Workforce.

In an exciting media industry collaboration, Global Academy’s Year 11 students are embarking on a cutting-edge green skills curriculum crafted by the international media advertising agency – dentsu, in partnership with Generation C. This initiative aims to equip Globallers with essential knowledge and skills pertaining to sustainability and climate change as well as the skills needed for a career in media. 

 

This initiative is an extension of dentsu’s renowned social impact program, The Code, designed to nurture future talent while addressing the pressing need for “green skills” in combating climate change.  

 

The curriculum’s pilot phase has commenced, engaging Year 11 students from Global Academy in a series of media lessons focused on sustainable consumption, media and marketing. This innovative approach seamlessly integrates with the National Curriculum’s learning objectives, offering students practical insights into real-world challenges and solutions related to sustainable practices. 

 

Through engaging case studies drawn from dentsu’s global clientele of advertisers – this curriculum bridges theoretical learning with practical creative applications, fostering proactive discussions and critical thinking around pressing business challenges. The ultimate goal is to inspire a shift in behaviour towards sustainability while nurturing a generation of innovative problem-solvers and media producers.

We are excited to work with industry partners to bring this project alive in our media lessons. Working directly with industry on real briefs makes the learning real. 

 

This initiative at Global Academy marks a transformative step towards empowering Year 11 students with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to tackle global challenges, paving the way for a brighter, sustainable future in the advertising and media industry.
