Our Year 13s Receive Their Results!

Year 13 students at the Global Academy leave the school in August 2020 prepared and ready for their next steps in the creative industry.

Year 13 Results Day

All 58 Year 13 students are now set to secure employment, an apprenticeship or a place at university after an overall pass rate of 100%.

All students study the Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology and  highlights for our Sixth Form, which was rated “Good” across the board by Ofsted in its first inspection include:

  • 27% of all media grades are Distinction (equivalent of 3 x A*)
  • 74% of all media grades are Merit or Distinction  (equivalent of 3 x A*-B)
  • 100% A*-C A Level English Literature grades
  • 100% A*-B A Level Music Tech and Sociology grades

The results are based on centre assessed grades submitted by the school which have been subjected to a process of moderation by Ofqual, the independent qualifications regulator.

On celebrating the results – Jonty Archibald, Principal of Global Academy said:

We are exceptionally happy with the Global Academy results for our year 13. All our students study the UAL level 3 creative and digital media course, 100% passed with 74% receiving a Merit or distinction. 24% achieved the equivalent to 3 A*s at A level. We had a 100% A -C pass rate within the complementary A levels we deliver.

We are thrilled that all students that applied to University were able to proceed and excited for the many students that are moving onto the apprenticeships with Global and other media companies. This is a testament to the hard work from all our students and staff during testing times.

For some – this marks the end of a very special four year journey as the original students in Year 10 when the school opened in 2016. During the two or four years here at the Academy – our students have worked with a wide range of industry partners including Global, BBC, Sky, Dentsu Aegis, Government Communication Services, IMG Studios, Mediacom, London Live, BBC Studios and many more– landing work experience placements, mentoring, guest workshops and industry focused training alongside their studies.

Our students are preparing for long lasting careers in the creative industries and for many – the results will kick start their journey into the industry. Eight of our students have secured apprenticeship roles for Global within the radio programming, content production, advertising and Outdoor teams.

For Narveer Toor, from Hayes – the Academy helped her secure a Degree apprenticeship within the Marketing Department at the BBC in Salford.

For me, media has always been a passion of mine. When finding out about the Global Academy, and learning what they do; which is teaching practical skills to aspiring students. I knew that this was the place that I wanted to join.

The Academy handed me the tools that I needed to succeed in marketing. For example they informed me what companies look for and how to present yourselves within your portfolio and CV’s. In addition to this, the Academy really pushed me to do extra projects outside of school. This not only looks impressive on your CV but also enables you to improve on my skill set.

Our successful results have allowed many students to secure places at some of the most prestigious creative further education institutions including University of Arts London, Leeds Art University, Ravensbourne, LMA, Fashion Retail Academy, BIMM and many more.

To follow in the footsteps of our graduating students and kickstart your career in the creative industry – apply now to join us in September in Year 12. Click here to apply.
