International Women’s Day is a significant day in the calendar as it recognises and celebrates the achievements of women globally while also promoting gender equality.
We worked closely with Rise who hosted an event called “Celebrating International Women’s Day” at the BFI to give a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience while being part of a meaningful and impactful event.
Anita Asante is a professional footballer and diversity advocate. She spoke about her experience as a woman of colour in a male-dominated field and how she has overcome challenges and biases to achieve success. Niki Whittle is the managing director of MOOV, a design and motion graphics agency. She discussed the importance of diversity in the workplace and how it leads to better business outcomes.
Students had the chance to work alongside these industry professionals, gaining practical experience in event management, camera work, and live streaming.
The involvement of students in the event was essential in providing them with an opportunity to learn from leaders in the media technology industry. By working alongside industry professionals, students learned about the importance of diversity and gender equality in the workplace. They also saw first-hand how industry leaders are championing equity to create a more inclusive world.
The work experience provided at the event was a unique opportunity for students from Global Academy to gain hands-on experience and insight into the media technology industry. They were able to network with professionals and gain valuable contacts for future career opportunities. By promoting diversity and gender equality in the workplace, Global Academy students can build on their experience and help shape the future of media technology.
In conclusion, Rise’s “Celebrating International Women’s Day” event at the BFI provided a unique opportunity for Global Academy students to gain work experience while being part of a meaningful and impactful event. The work experience provided will undoubtedly benefit students in their future careers while also empowering them to create a more inclusive world.
