Students Work Shines at End of Year BFI Showcase

Global Academy students impress at the BFI Showcase alongside

Global Academy students recently took centre stage at the highly anticipated UTC College’s BFI Showcase – an event that brought together talented Media students from across the country. With their exceptional showreels, Global Academy students impressed their peers, industry VIPs, friends, and family gathered at the iconic BFI on the Southbank.

The day was filled with excitement and inspiration as students from Global Academy and other UTCs participated in a series of engaging careers workshops. Leading industry professionals from Sky, BFI Film Academy, and Resource Productions opened the students’ minds to the vast array of careers available in the creative industries. These insightful career talks provided valuable guidance and encouraged students to explore their passions and follow their dreams.

The highlight of the event was the showcase itself compered by Capital FM presenter – Niall Gray. Each UTC had a 15-minute slot to captivate the audience with their outstanding showreels of student work and project. Global Academy students stood out with their exceptional work across our content production, design, business, graphics, radio and social media courses – leaving a lasting impression on the sold-out audience gathered at NFT 1 main screen at the BFI!

The showcase was also attended by distinguished industry guests, including a keynote speech from Lord Ed Vaizey and Deborah Gbadamosi, the Chief Executive of Brand Advance Group. Deborah’s speech resonated deeply with the students, as she shared personal anecdotes from her career journey and encouraged them to pursue their dreams fearlessly.

Global Academy was joined by students from Doncaster UTC, UTC Media City, UTC Sheffield, Elstree Screen Arts Academy, Mulberry UTC, and London Design Engineering UTC, making it a truly collaborative and inspiring event. The BFI Showcase served as a powerful platform for students to display their creative talents, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment.

The event not only celebrated the achievements of the students but also highlighted the transformative power of creative and industry led education. Global Academy, alongside the wider UTC network of schools and colleges – remains committed to nurturing creative talent, providing a vibrant learning environment, and opening doors to exciting career opportunities in the ever-evolving creative industries.
