The Global Academy Year 13 students recently embarked on an enriching journey into the heart of creativity at the Canon Head Office. Divided into three enlightening sessions, the students had the opportunity to customise their learning experience, selecting talks that resonated most with their interests and aspirations.

In the first session, students were treated to insights from seasoned professionals such as Jas Virdee, Katie Petitt, Giorgi Sexton, and Amy Cook. They explored topics ranging from creative briefs and human-centered design to the intricacies of PR & Communications apprenticeships. A highlight of the session was a captivating tour of Canon’s in-house Video and Photography Studios, led by industry experts Edward Lau, Goncalo Rodriges, and Cecilie Harris.

Moving into the second session, Mark Grimster, Alexa, Zoe, and Fulvia Consonni shared their expertise on content planning, social media management, and crafting standout CVs and portfolios. Students gained invaluable insights into the daily operations of content production at Canon and the pathways to success in creative roles.

The pinnacle of the day was the exclusive practical session held in the Canon studio, where the first 25 students had the opportunity to dive deep into hands-on learning alongside industry experts. Here, they honed their skills and gained practical experience that will undoubtedly shape their creative journeys moving forward.

Reflecting on the day’s events, students expressed gratitude for the unique opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals and gain a glimpse into the inner workings of a leading creative organization. Armed with newfound knowledge and inspiration, they are poised to embark on their own creative endeavors with confidence and enthusiasm.
