This year, Global Academy, a forward-thinking educational institution, made its presence felt at the Bett UK Show by participating in the YOYOTECH x LENOVO Rocket League competition. For nine Year 12 students and their teacher, this trip marked their first exposure to a trade show of such magnitude, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of gaming and education.
The students had the chance to immerse themselves in various aspects of educational technology, from digital whiteboards and F1 racing simulation consoles to microbits and AR/VR goggles. As they played and interacted with these products, they gained live insights into key marketing strategies, learning how to appeal to audiences and engage them in diverse ways.
The Rocket League competition itself was a thrilling experience for the Global Academy team. Led by Team Leader Calum, along with players Luan and Krish, the team demonstrated not only their gaming prowess but also their ability to concentrate and communicate effectively. With six of their classmates cheering them on for moral support, the team emerged victorious, winning all three of their matches and securing the top spot among the participating schools.
This achievement not only highlighted the students’ skills in the gaming arena but also showcased the importance of teamwork, concentration, and effective communication – valuable lessons that extend beyond the virtual world.
