About the Course

Art and Design courses at Global Academy aim to develops student’s ability to work creatively, nurture enthusiasm and develop long lasting careers across the Art, Design and Media industry.

Our Art & Design courses give students a broad introductory programme of workshops and study exploring a plethora of techniques and processes to enable students to develop critical, practical, technical and theoretical skills that they need in the workplace and beyond.

The curriculum has been designed to continue from KS4 to KS5 with a more technical focus on digital techniques and processes in line with industry feedback and need. The KS5 course seamlessly progresses to give learners the opportunity to consider the impact of their work on viewers and consumers, cultivating a sense of responsibility as creators. The course aims to prepare students for successful and meaningful careers in the ever evolving and dynamic field of the Art, Design and Media industry.

The Advanced Media Arts and Design Program at post-16 is designed to provide students with comprehensive skills in Art and Design, specifically tailored to meet the demands of the dynamic and ever-evolving Media industry. The course aims to nurture creative talents, equipping students with the technical proficiency and conceptual understanding required for success in various media-related professions.

Entry Requirements 

5 GCSEs at Level 4 and above including Maths and English

A portfolio of creative work and illustrations

What I will study / do during the course? 

Your skills in Adobe Products (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects & Animate) will be developed.

Core principles of visual arts, including drawing, colour theory, and composition.

Introduction to design fundamentals, encompassing typography, layout, and spatial arrangement.

Digital Illustration and Animation techniques for multimedia applications

Project-based learning to simulate real-world media production scenarios. Emphasis on building a comprehensive portfolio showcasing a diverse range of projects.

Guidance on presenting work effectively for potential employers or further academic pursuits.

 

 

 

What qualification will I get? 

Students taking this course will receive a UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design, and Communication qualification which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

The course offers up to 168 UCAS Points.

 

What partners are involved in the course? 

You will work with our industry sponsor Global & university partners including the University of the Arts: London College of Communication as well as some of London’s best creative and advertising agencies.
