Curriculum Outline: KS4 Media

About the Course

Welcome to KS4 Media! In this dynamic and engaging course, students will embark on an exploration of the ever-evolving world of media. The KS4 Media curriculum is designed to equip students with a critical understanding of various media forms, ranging from traditional print to the rapidly evolving digital landscape of audio, visual and digital.

As we navigate through this course, students will delve into the complex strands of media, including film, television, advertising, audio, and digital media. The primary goal is to empower students with the knowledge of media industry. This will allow them to explore and develop their skill set in Media which will explore analysing, deconstructing, and creating media content in an informed and thoughtful manner.

What I will study / do during the course? 

The course is 100% coursework. You will develop your skills in Adobe Products such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Audition.

You will learn how to create industry standard products such as infographics, posters, documentary making and film trailers. You will also learn key skills such as researching, planning and evaluating which will help you create a final major project.

In year 10 you spend your time developing your creative and analytic skills project by project to prepare you for live briefs and your final major project in Year 11.

Throughout the course, we encourage active participation, networking, creativity, and independent thinking. KS4 Media aims to equip students with skills that are not only valuable in academic contexts but also essential in navigating the media-saturated world we live in.

 

What qualification will I get? 

UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (level 2)

This is equivalent to three GCSE’s.

 

What partners are involved in the course? 

In year 11 we purely work with leading media companies to deliver our students live briefs. To date we have worked with companies such as Global, Dentsu and The Uncommon Collective. We also have guest speakers and workshops with companies such as Canon, OnePointOne, ITV and Ideas Foundation.

 

Where could this course take me? 

All of our media project equips students to further study courses such as Media Studies, Media production, Media Business, Marketing, Digital Design, Radio and Gaming.
